Bodegas Tarima Monastrell From Spain

Bodegas Tarima Monastrell

Bodegas Tarima is a joint venture of Jorge Ordonez and the Gil family located in Jumilla Spain. The grapes are 100% Monastrell with the age of the vines 25- 35 years old.

The wine is 100% stainless steel fermented with some stirring of the lees to attain the maximum out of this variety. The soils are very chalky and are at an elevation of some 2,100 feet above sea level. The winery owns some (80 hectares) 192 acres of vineyards, some are under organic practices and are currently in the process of being certified organic.

87 Points Wine Advocate – “This is the first vintage of this wine; the 2009 Tarima is 100% Monastrell sourced from 25-35 year old vines and raised in stainless steel with lees stirring. Medium crimson-colored, the nose reveals fragrant blueberries and underbrush. Firm on the palate with plenty of savory fruit, it is meant for drinking over the next 3 years.”
