October 28th, 2013 – Halloween Beer Tasting
Come by the store to sample through and learn about 11 different beers fit for the Halloween season. The tasting will be hosted by Andy Bielecki–the Bearded Taster at Swamp Head. Tasting will be done in class format, so we will be tasting and discussing one beer at a time.
Admission is $30 and must be made in advance in person or by phone (352-672-6303). Tasting is inclusive of a souvenir beer glass, hors d’oeuvres, and 10% off most store items during the tasting.

Cigar City Good Gourd8.5% abv
Pumpkin Beer – Tampa, FL
A high-gravity pumpkin flavored beer from Cigar City in Tampa, FL. This one has been difficult to get a hold of this year.
Southern Tier Pumking8.6% abv
Pumpkin Beer – New York
A big spicy pumpkin beer from Lakewood, New York. Always a Tipple’s favorite.
Samuel Adams Fat Jack8.5% abv
Pumpkin Beer – Boston, MA
Brewed with 28 lbs of pumpkin per barrel, as well as cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and allspice. It is pumpkin pie in a bottle.
Avery Mephistopheles(Demons of Ale Series) 16.2% abv
Imperial Stout – Colorado
One of the Demons of Ale Series from Avery. Amazingly complex, coal black, velvety. Flavors of anise, chocolate, and rum-soaked caramelized dark fruits. Very high abv.
Avery Samael’s Oak Aged Ale(Demons of Ale Series) 15.53% abv
English Barley Wine – Colorado
Samael’s Ale is a super-caramelly, oak aged English-style strong ale, and another member of the Demons of Ale series. Very high abv.
Avery The Beast Grand Cru(Demons of Ale Series) 18% abv
Belgian-style Strong Dark Ale – Colorado
The Best Grand Cru is another member of the Demons of Ale series. This is one of the highest alcohol content beers in the store.
Freigeist Ottekolong4.8% abv
Kölsch – Germany
This sinister-looking Kölsch is actually too nontraditional to be legally considered a Kölsch in Germany. Quaffable, yet rich, hoppy, and complex.
Belgian Strong Pale Ale – Belgium
A tart Belgian pale with lemon notes.
B. Nektar Necromangocon6% abv
Melomel (Mead) – Michican
This bottle isn’t a beer, but a honey wine brewed with Mango juice.
Beer Here Dark Hops8.5% abv
American Black IPA – Belgium/Denmark
A silky black IPA brewed by Danish gypsy brewers in Belgium.
Brooklyn Monster Ale10.1% abv
Barley Wine – New York
Brooklyn Monster Ale is a barley wine brewed with English malts and American hops and then aged for 4 months before being released.
