Shafer Relentless 2010
Shafer Relentless is made from grapes grown on a small ridgetop site and in a small foothills site along the Vaca Mountains just South of the Stags Leap district. This vintage features a blend of 96% Syrah and 4% Petite Sirah. Aromas of fresh cut flowers, roses and tulips, lead toward your nose as you taste dark fruits, cinnamon, and black pepper. As it slides across your tongue there is an elegant creaminess but also a bright acidity. Then you experience more flavors of dark fruits, with cranberry and hints of vanilla. Finally, you will revel in a seemingly endless floral finish.
This bold wine will pair perfectly with Syrah-braised short ribs, roast duck, beef, or wild game. Alternatively, aged dry cheeses such as Cheddar or Manchego would also make excellent accompaniments.
“This one you’ll want to enjoy in the brightness of youth and in the tantalizing delicacy of age.” -Elias Fernandez winemaker
