Mikkeller Beer Geek Breakfast – Jack Tipple’s Year of Beer Challenge Week 41
An oatmeal stout with 25.0% oat-based ingredients and a nice touch of gourmet coffee. A beer that goes extremely well with breakfast! Also good for the afternoon and the evening… Good hints of coffee and smoke as well as dark chocolate and roasted malts. A Mikkeller classic!
The name Mikkeller comes from a combination of the names of the two brewers — Mikkel Bjergsoe and Kristian Keller — who met years ago when they were both elite runners (Mikkel in the 800 meters and Kristian in longer distances). In fact, Mikkel and his twin brother Jeppe (owner of Copenhagen’s best beer store) were once Denmark’s record holders for the 800 meters, separated in time by less than 1/10th of a second.
Now, they occasionally pull their running shoes out, but brewing eats into what little spare time they have. During the day, Mikkel is a school teacher, and Kristian a music critic, but their passion is brewing, and it shows in their work. A leader in the Danish brewing scene, many of the highest-rated Danish beers are from Mikkeller. The brewery has been voted the Best in Denmark by the Danish Beer Enthusiasts, and Beer Geek Breakfast the very best beer of Denmark.
We at Tipple’s love to try new beers all the time and we’re sure that you do too. In honor of that we have designed a program to help you try new beer and perhaps revisit some old beers you haven’t had in quite a while. For Jack Tipple’s Year of Beer Challenge we will feature a different beer every week.
If you purchase that beer on the given week we will punch your card. Once you have completed 52 weeks of featured beers we will give you your choice of a Tipple’s Koozie or Tipple’s Pint glass and you will have your name added to our plaque on the wall and be immortalized in the annals of Tipple’s History.
