The Featured Wines

2014 L’Ecole No. 41 Chenin Blanc – Washington State
90 Points Wine Spectator – “Bright, sleek and distinctive, with pineapple, grapefruit and mineral flavors set against a tiny dose of sweetness. Has elegance and persistence.”

2014 Frog’s Leap Sauvignon Blanc  – California
90 Points Wine Enthusiast –
“Made from organically grown, dry-farmed vineyards and fermented entirely in stainless steel, this refreshingly dry and low-alcohol white offers flavors of peach and grapefruit pith around electrified acidity. It tastes fresh, fruity and completely on edge.”

2013 Rutherford Ranch Rhiannon – California
90 Points Wine Advocate – “An absolutely amazing value, the 2013 Proprietary Red is a great blend of 49% Syrah, 38% Petite Sirah and 13% Barbera (11,000 cases produced). The wine, which was aged in French oak, displays a dense ruby/purple color and an attractive nose of blackberries, licorice, tar and a touch of subtle smoke. It is medium-bodied and has surprising density as well as intensity for a wine at this price range. It should drink nicely for another 2-3 years.”

2013 Pecchenino Dogliani San Luigi Dolcetto – Italy
89 Points Wine Spectator – “An earthy, meaty style, featuring black cherry and blackberry flavors fused to beefy tannins. Shows range and power, with a lingering finish. Drink now through 2018.”

2013 Insurrection Cabernet Shiraz Blend – Australia
90 Points Wine Enthusiast –
“This is a big, bold version of a classic Australian blend. Yes, it’s a bit of a throwback in its size and plushness, but there’s no denying its appealing cherry and raspberry fruit, hint of charred oak and slightly creamy texture.”

2012 Monteabellon 14 Meses Tempranillo Ribera del Duero – Spain
91 Points Wine Spectator – “Cocoa and smoky notes frame black cherry, tobacco and mineral flavors in this firm, sleek red, kept lively by fresh acidity. The moderate tannins are well-integrated. A modern style, with a loamy element.”

2014 Daou Cabernet Sauvignon Paso Robles – California
93 Points Wine Spectator – I think even a step up over the killer 2013, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon is loaded with notions of black raspberry, cassis, spice and licorice. More textured, voluptuous, layered and concentrated than all of the previous vintages, it will have an easy 10-15 years of longevity.”

2013 3 Rings Shiraz Barossa Valley – Australia
92 Points Wine Spectator –
“Plush and spicy, this exotic style layers ripe plum and cherry fruit with star anise and peppercorn overtones that carry into the long, vivid finish. Drink now through 2023.”

Deep Breaths, Big Sips.
