The Featured Wines
2012 Trimbach Gewurztraminer – France – Alsace
90 Points Wine Spectator – “Verbena and pine forest hints lace this dry, well-cut white, while smoky minerality underscores flavors of melon, dried apricot, pink grapefruit and beeswax. Spiced finish.”
2013 Hess Collection Chardonnay – California – Napa Valley
90 Points Wine Enthusiast – “Fresh and zesty, with peach and lemon-lime flavors, featuring a round texture centered around pear and green apple notes. Ends clean and persistent.”
2012 August Kesseler Pinot Noir – Germany
91 Points Wine Enthusiast – “Intensely ripe black-cherry aromas are matched with a fresh and juicy and yet remarkably elegant palate. Delicate tannins and a lean, granitic edge frame the lingering finish. It’s a brisk, balanced wine to enjoy now through 2018.”
2012 Famille Perrin Les Cornuds – France – Rhone VAlley
90 Points Wine Spectator – “Focused, with a fleshy edge to the core of plum and currant compote flavors. Violet, anise and incense notes fill in on the finish. Just a touch tight, but this should fill out with brief cellaring.”
2013 Achaval Ferrer Malbec – Argentina
90 Points Wine Spectator –“There’s an enticing floral quality to the cherry, plum and wild berry flavors, with juniper notes midpalate. Features plenty of fresh acidity, with a complex, minerally finish that delivers hints of hoisin sauce.”
2013 Ceralti Scire Rosso – Italy – Bolgheri
91 Points Wine Spectator – “A line of pure cherry runs through this lushly textured, elegant red, whose vibrant acidity keeps it focused and graceful, while the finish adds spice and tobacco notes. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.”
2012 Freemark Abbey Merlot – California – Napa Valley
92 Points Wine Advocate – “A cross-Napa Valley blend, the 2012 Merlot is their largest cuvée (15,500 cases), and is composed of 85.2% Merlot blended with other Bordeaux varietals. Only 21% new oak is used, so the fruit component dominates. A dense plum/purple color is followed by notes of chocolate, berries, tobacco leaf, forest floor and mocha. This lush, fruit-driven, hedonistic, sensual Merlot can be drunk over the next 7-8 years.”
2012 Tarima Hill Monastrell – Spain – Alicante
92 Points Wine Spectator – “Rich yet harmonious, this polished red delivers a core of black cherry and cassis, framed with smoke, mineral, licorice and espresso notes. Juicy acidity and well-integrated tannins lend structure. In the modern style.”
