The Featured Wines
2013 Tarima Monastrell
Winemaker’s Notes: Bright purple. High-pitched red and dark berry scents show good clarity and with a hint of licorice. Tangy and focused on the palate, offering juicy black raspberry and spice cake flavors with an exotic touch of candied violet. Closes spicy and long, with silky tannins building slowly and adding gentle grip.
2012 Orin Swift Mannequin
Winemaker’s Notes: Gilded in bright yellow, an alluring perfume of candied lemon, Bosc pear, wild flower, and honeydew melon incentivize the palate. Upon entry, a deliciously rich and creamy texture balances out vivid tropical fruit notes, exotic spices, and fresh pineapple that slowly emerge in a captivating way. The finish has a lively tone of acidity, which serves as an ideal foil to the crème brulee, marshmallow, and hazelnut flavors that envelope the mouth.
2013 Zuccardi Serie A Malbec
Winemaker’s Notes: The 2013 Serie A Malbec is sourced from different zones in the Uco Valley, zones closer to the mountains, and is harvested relatively early in search of freshness, then vinified and raised to preserve the fruit. Here the fruit is more black than red, with spicy aromas, the wine very young and primary but round. The vintage gave very good fruit, with great natural acidity. A Malbec that represents the Uco Valley.
2013 Ponzi Tavola Pinot Noir
Winemaker’s Notes: Warm aromas of ripe plum, cola, tobacco and cayenne frame the floral notes of violet and dried rose petal in the nose. The plush and silky mouth shows spicy black cherry and sweet almond while the juicy acidity and soft tannins make this wine dangerously approachable.
2014 Heinz Eifel Riesling Spatlese
Winemaker’s Notes: An elegant Riesling that offers a palate of different stone and tree fruit notes such as peach and apricot. Luscious and full-bodied with a long and fresh finish.
2013 Decoy Zinfandel
90 Points Wine Enthusiast: This is a vivid and alluring Zinfandel with abundant fruit highlighted by juicy blackberry and dark plum layers, as well as hints of fresh-picked blueberry, mocha and dark chocolate. On the palate, luscious velvety tannins carry the wine to a lingering finish that concludes with just a touch of ripe berry sweetness and spice.
2014 Charles Smith Velvet Devil Merlot
Winemaker’s Notes: This little devil is wrapped in a velvet robe. Full with density and bursting with flavor. Dark fruit, cherry, blackberry. Brimming with cedar, pipe tobacco and earth. Truth in a name: Velvet!
2013 Santa Ema Merlot Reserva
90 Points Wine Spectator: Deep violet ruby-red. Very fruity wine with spices aromas of plums, blackberries, and accompanied by intense notes of caramel and vanilla. Soft, ripe tannins lend good structure and balance.
