The Featured Wines
Ferrari Brut NV
90 Points Wine Spectator: Fresh and balanced, with a fine, lacy bead and a streak of salinity underscoring the Asian pear, ground ginger, hazelnut and lemon zest notes.
2014 Aveleda Vinho Verde
90 Points Wine Enthusiast: Produced from the vines that surround the family house at Quinta da Aveleda, this is an exemplary Vinho Verde. Dry and crisp, with richness as well as freshness, it is a bright, tight and lightly mineral wine to drink now.
2014 Inama Soave Classico
Winemaker’s Notes: Light yellow color. Elegant nose of sweet elderflowers: chamomile, elderflower, iris. Mineral on the palate with sweet almond on the finish.
2013 Odfjell Armador Cabernet Sauvignon
Winemaker’s Notes: Ruby color with hints of violets. An important feature of this vintage are the distinctive aromas displaying fresh red fruit such as strawberries and plums, as well as its well-known aromas of licorice, anise and a touch of vanilla and chocolate. Perfectly balanced with ripe, fresh tannins and a long refreshing finish.
2010 Clarendelle Rouge
90 Points Robert Parker: This wine, which is a blend of the three basic varietals planted in Bordeaux – Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc – is a major sleeper of the vintage and far exceeded my expectations, and that, of course, is all good news. Lots of red and black currant fruit, licorice, spice and soft tannins have resulted in a silky, opulently styled wine that far exceeds its humble origins and appellation.
2011 Marques de Caceres Rioja Excellens Cuvee Especial
Winemaker’s Notes: Dark ruby red color. Attractive bouquet of red berries with a hint of soft spice acquired during the ageing process in French oak. Concentrated and nicely balanced in the mouth with ripe tannins that highlight its structure and elegance. Good length.
2013 Amavi Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon
91 Points Wine Spectator: Rich and ripe, playing its blueberry, plum, and spice flavors against nubby tannins, shaping them into the round and expressive finish.
Croft Tawny Port Reserve NV
90 Points Wine Spectator: Rich and toothsome, with interesting dried herbal notes to the red plum and toffee flavors. The juicy finish is filled with spicy accents.
