Sparkling Shiraz & Oregon Pinot Noir – Jack Tipple’s Weekly Wine Picks 1/25-2/1
Winemaker’s Notes: Premium Langhorne Creek Shiraz grapes were selected and blended to produce this richly flavoured Sparkling Shiraz. Sweet berry fruit flavors and liquoring have combined to produce a great colour and depth of flavor.
90 Points Vinous / Antonio Galloni: Vivid ruby. Fresh raspberry and cherry aromas are complemented by spices and flowers, picking up a peppery quality with air. Nervy, focused and spicy, offering bright red berry and cherry skin flavors and a touch of candied rose. The finish is nicely brisk and focused, with a peppery note adding cut to the sweet red fruit. I’d serve this at the end of a meal, with cheeses.

Winemaker’s Notes: The nose shows aromas of clove, caramel, cocoa and sandalwood that mingle with the savory notes of thyme, lilac and paprika. The mouth is bright with fresh strawberry, raspberry, hints of vanilla and cherry cola. The mid-palate is soft while the finish is long and lively with juicy acidity.
91 Points Wine Spectator: Fresh and inviting, open-textured and refined, with plum, currant and floral flavors that dance through a supple finish. Shows generosity and finesse. Best from 2017 through 2020.
