The Featured Beers
ToOl Santa Gose F&%# It All
Denmark – Gose – 4%
This year we called up Father Christmas and told him to take a break from delivering presents and go kick back in the Bahamas. Tearing up the rule book in all sorts of ways, we have produced a beer for his holiday in the form of Santa Gose F&%# It All. A different kind of winter beer, one that exudes an almost summer like quality while being warming and full on for winter drinking. Tart, funky and refreshing, this beer will see you through the dark months with its Brettanomyces and fine carbonation and lead you into the light at the end of the tunnel.
Prairie Christmas Bomb
Oklahoma – Imperial Stout – 13%
Our signature stout laced with cinnamon, coffee, ancho chilies, vanilla and cacao nibs for a seasonal kick. Perfect for drinking while donning an ugly Christmas sweater by the fire.
Dieu du Ciel! Solstice d’Hiver
Canada – Barley Wine – 10.2%
This noble winter beer is brown in color with flaming red highlights. Its taste is delicately sweet and liquor-like with a hint of burnt caramel coming from the malt and a prolonged boiling time. It is a very bitter beer with aromas of hops and alcohol, and flavors reminiscent of red fruit brought by the English-type yeast used to ferment it. The aftertaste is accentuated by the wonderful flavor of hops. Solstice d’Hiver is brewed only once a year, and is then aged for 4 to 5 months before being sold. This aging process is necessary to achieve an ideal equilibrium between the sharp bitterness and the other flavors in the beer.
Denamrk – Belgian Blonde – 5.6%
Made with our French friends in mind, we took some of the most awesome Christmas tastes: Cardamom, Orange Peel and Lemon Zest and added our favourites: Coriander and Lime Zest! Combined with the subtle restrained spice of a Belgian Blonde, the results were so good that we decided to name this seasonal treat what it was – Santastique!
North Coast Barrel Aged Old Rasputin XX
California – Imperial Stout – 11.1%
Every year we age a special batch of our much-loved Russian Imperial Stout in Bourbon barrels. The depth, intensity, and complexity of the flavor profile of this special release, like its predecessors, make it a worthy tribute to Old Rasputin.
Belgium – Gueuze – 6%
A brewery both traditional and innovative, Lindemans is creating a new beer category with their Botanical Lambic series: wild-fermented lambic beers, with a new ingredient that leads to an entirely new flavor sensation. The first in the series was SpontanBasil, made with fresh basil; now, Lindemans GingerGueuze brings the bold aroma and taste of fresh ginger to traditional lambic. Hazy golden color; bold ginger aroma and flavor enmeshed with the sharp, tart dryness of gueuze.
Florida – Fruit Beer – 18.3%
This extremely high gravity brew was made special for the Hourglass 4 year anniversary. With 2 lbs of apricot per gallon, a huge amount of palisade, galaxy, and centennial hops, and local honey, this beer is packed full of flavor and scary easy to drink.
St Bernardus Christmas Ale
Belgium – Quadrupel – 10%
St.Bernardus Christmas Ale is a dark seasonal brewed in the classic ‘Quadrupel’ style of Belgium’s best Abbey Ales. (10,0 % ABV) Similar to all the beers from our brewery, it greets the drinker with the signature aroma of the St.Bernardus house yeast strain (in use since 1946!) Rivaling the complexity of the St.Bernardus Abt 12, St.Bernardus Christmas Ale offers a spicy, mint-like flavor profile exuding the tastes of warming alcohol, fermented molasses, apricots, licorice and marzipan that are highligted by the perfect balance of brewing sugars.
Brasserie de Silly Scotch Barrel Aged
Belgium – Wee Heavy – 9.5%
Each year Brasserie de Silly takes their famous scotch silly brand and ages it in a different style barrel. 2017 rediscovers its roots featuring Scotch Silly aged in Scotch barrels imported from Scotland. This deep dark colored scotch ale is a perfect blend of caramelized malt and candied sugar from the mother beer. The flavor coming from the scotch barrel produces a brew that explodes with flavor.
Against the Gran Stave it for Later Something Special
Kentucky – Rye Wine – 12%
The next addition to the “What you want series” You may remember fondly such stupid brands as “Something Local” “Something Hoppy” “Your Lytest One.” Well now we have “Something Special” which is actually…something special (bet you weren’t expecting that) We got our hands on the port barrels that our good friends at Angels Envy distillery finish off their bourbon whiskey in and we added a big Rye Wine to them and aged it until it was perfect of course! So we have the spicy and fruity flavors of the Rye wine (basically a barley wine style with a large portion of rye malt added to the mash) blended with the caramel and vanilla flavors of the bourbon and a hint of that rich grapy and dark fruit flavors of the port. It is definitely something special, so we bottled some as part of our Stave it for Later barrel aged series.
Anchorage Time Waits for No One
Alaska – 14% – Imperial Stout
This beer was made in celebration of Steve Marshalll’s 60th Birthday. When writing the recipe, he wanted something that could age for a long time. Something that would reflect the passion he has for well made spirits and big flavored beers. The result was a monster of an imperial stout that was aged in Port wine barrels.
Kasteel RaspBarista Chocolate Quad
Belgium – 11% – Quadrupel
RaspBarista by Kasteel is a blend of the original Barista Chocolate Quad and St. Louis Framboise. The tartness of the raspberries contrasts with bitter-dark chocolate notes in the beer. It also tones down the coffee aroma a touch. RaspBarista Chocolate Quad has an 11% ABV, with a surprisingly lighter body than most traditional quads. This beer alone can be the perfect end to a feast, but its lighter body makes it the perfect beer to pair with most decadent desserts.
