The Featured Wines
Hamilton Russell Chardonnay
South Africa-Hemel En Aarde Valley
A tight, minerally wine with classic Hamilton Russell Vineyards length and complexity. Unusually prominent pear and lime fruit aromas and flavours are brought beautifully into focus by a tight line of bright natural acid and a long, dry minerality. An elegant, yet textured and intense wine with a strong personality of both place and vintage.
Peregrine Sauvignon Blanc
New Zealand-Central Otago
A fresh and bright Sauvignon Blanc with lemongrass, fennel seed and citrus flavours a beautiful crisp minerality with fine acidity and length. Vibrant aromatics and great purity of flavor combine with a distinctive minerality and fine palate texture.
Brash Higgins ZBO Zibbibo-Amphora
Cloudy, pale yellow in appearance. The wine is dry yet exudes tantalising herbal, spice and stone fruit aromas. Not as overt as the 2014 effort, the 2015 is more subdued than ever. Complex nose of graphite/pencil shavings, cut ginger, cloves, cinnamon, white pepper, sweet Texas tea, white flowers, and wild honey. On the palate, a soft entry with phenolic grip and an earthy sweet chalk/clay element with notes of lemon oil, walnuts, tangerines and cinnamon apples. Good length flows on in the afterbreath.
Bird In Hand Sparkling Pinot Noir
A delicate Sparkling Rosé with lifted strawberry and cherry aromas on the nose. This Bird In Hand Sparkling is an elegant wine with a delightful creamy texture. It is made in a crisp, refreshing style, great for entertaining, especially on hot summer days.
Mac Forbes EB15 Pretty Young Thing Syrah Nouveau
Pretty, perfumed and utterly glugable. We had a delicate parcel of Syrah and this gentle handling seemed appropriate. To be consumed whenever thirsty.
Stark-Conde Postcard Series Elgin Pinot Noir
South Africa-Elgin Valley
This wine has the classic strawberry and cherry fruit you expect from a pinot with a touch of peppery Asian spice that is typical of Elgin. Very pretty mouthfeel with fine polished tannins. From the beginning our goal has been to produce an elegant style of Pinot, not a big, heavy, oaky-dominated style — a more feminine style, with all the positives of that connotation.
Bodega Colome Autentico Malbec
Colome Auténtico Malbec is a tribute to the pioneers, to those who worked the land from 1831. Since then, the work on these vineyards has been using environmentally sustainable practices to achieve the “authentic” expression of the terroir. This 100% Malbec comes from 90 year old vines, no added commercial yeasts and has been bottled without filtration. Intense and almost black color with violet hues, has a nose full of black and red fruit aromas and an elegant spiciness with a crispy acidity.
Southern Right Pinotage
South Africa-Walker Bay
This intense classically styled, clay-grown wine is packed with complex berry fruit, beautiful tannins and subtle spice. Full ripeness and the longer hang-time afforded by cooler sites, combined with the complex, more classic fruit aromas and structure resulting from clay-rich soil, make this wine a highly individual expression of South Africa’s unique grape variety.
Very clear ruby red. Fragrant, fresh and overpowering; hints of red fruits, blueberries, raspberries and blackberries, violet flowers and sage. Very vivacious and fresh, particularly aromatic because of red fruit and rosebuds, a dry pleasant and persistent closing. This wine is great with appetizers including fresh and aged cheeses, salamis, Sicilian red tuna, fish soup, mullet, sushi and sashimi.
Intense ruby red colored, Mille e una Notte is characterized by an ample bouquet, with blackberry and plum notes and balsamic with spicy scents followed by hints of chocolate. The palate is soft and embracing, surprising with an extraordinary silky tannin. A remarkable long persistence on the finish.
