2016 Vincent Mothe Chablis

Winemaker’s Notes: Fermented and aged in stainless steel, this Chablis is crisp, clean and razor-sharp. Get classic flavors of green apple, fresh lemon, and Chablis’ distinctive combination of saline, mineral and soil. Oysters are the classic pairing here, but this is one of those wines where you almost can’t go wrong: chicken, fish, veggies, sitting in the shade with a good book—this wine makes most things better.

France-Bordeaux

90 points James Suckling: A leafy cabernet nose leads into quite a powerful and tannic palate with the sleek body of a marathon runner. Better in 2018.

90 points Wine Enthusiast: With an unusually high proportion (nearly 17%) of Petit Verdot in the blend, this is both darkly structured and dark in color. It is weight, intense youthful acidity and black-currant fruits. It’s also rich, full of tannins and in need of several years. Drink from 2021.

90 points Wine Spectator: Delightfully ripe, with an inviting core of plum and blackberry preserves, picking up an anise edge on the finish. A solid alder spine runs throughout, adding length and definition. Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Merlot. Drink now through 2020.
