Jack cut his teeth in the British Explorers club, and as such spent a good amount of times at the local pubs in the area. Samuel Smith beers were his go to, particularly the Oatmeal stout. It was perfect on cool rainy evenings. The nice thing was due to its low abv he could have multiple ones and still research the hidden tomb of the Last Crusader.
Not quite a stout, but not quite a light beer either, Scotch Ales sit at a uniquely satisfying position. With their caramelly, chewy quality and surprising abv, this was the first beer style that Jack tried all those years ago, that started a love affair with beer styles. Therefore, it is the beer of the week!
